Athletic Movement Training is the next progression from the
Progressive Movement Training System. Once my clients and athletes have mastered
the fundamental movement patterns they can begin to train a new group of fitness
components that I call the athletic components of fitness. The exercises in the
Athletic Movement System are designed to train an individual reach their maximum
athletic potential by developing their dynamic strength and flexibility, speed,
power, agility, rotational speed and power, and quickness.
As mentioned previously Progressive Movement Training teaches an
individual to move better but Athletic Movement Training teaches individuals to
move like athletes. This form of training should be adapted specifically to the
individual requirements of the client or athlete.
The two systems discussed on these pages should not be used
exclusively. Individuals training athletically should never compromise their
fundamental movement skills and should continue to practice them on a regular
basis.
